MS Swimming Competes in Metro 10 Championship

JAN. 31 -- On Friday, January 26, the Mount Pisgah Middle School Swim team concluded their season with a respectable 5th place overall finish in the Metro 10 Championship.  The girls finished 4th thanks to points being scored by five of eight swimmers.  The boys team swam to 7th place just a few hours after learning that their team would be depleted by 50% of its members which caused them to have to forfeit their two relays.

Brendan Brown (7) and Graham Osborne (6) both set one personal best record while Brendan scored big points by finishing in 2nd place in both of his events - the 100 Individual Medley and 50 breaststroke.  Brendan broke his own record in the 100 I.M. to end an impressive season which included taking ownership of several new middle school records. Great season to you Graham and Brendan.

Maddy Childress (7) reached a new level of swimming greatness as she set the Metro 10 Championship Meet Record in the 50 breaststroke at 33.96 seconds.  She backed up this first place finish with a close second place in the 50 Freestyle.  A goggle malfunction on her start slowed down this super-fast Patriot in the 50 Free.  Emma Livezey (7), another stalwart for the girls team this season, overcame her low energy due to illness and gutted out a 2nd place finish in the 200 Freestyle and a 3rd place in the 100 Individual Medley - the two most demanding events in this championship meet.

Maddy and Emma joined Campbell Cummins (5) and Julia Franz (7) to finish 2nd in the 200 Medley Relay and in the 200 Freestyle Relay Maddy, Emma and Campbell along with Allison Marty also touched the wall in time to record yet another close 2nd place finish. Congratulations girls!
